Your philosophy of life just seems a little arrogant and at odds with reality. The tensions or obstacles you define are real boundaries and ought to teach you some humility. Your 'believe in yourself' system is a lonely path, sometimes selfish, and always in the end ineffectual. To trust yourself completely, as you say, will leave you in despair-- and those around you shaking their heads at your self-conceit. Is there not someone greater than yourself you can beleive in?

This is a long ago post-- I hope in the years that have passed you have grown beyond yourself and learned to be selfless in the midst of your disciplined life. I hope you have grown to see how inconsistent a self-determinist is-- and how it is ultimately at odds with experience, relationships, morality, and the higher noble pursuits of men.

"I became quick, but I never achieved my goal of being the fastest on the team. Still a self-determinist, I felt that I just hadn’t tried hard enough."

I think this sentence embodies my view of self-determinism. Great post.

<!--%kramer-pre%-->would pass up Nebraska for flashier teams in Florida, California, or Texas; only to get beat by the hungrier walk-ons and work horses that chose Nebraska for the love of the game. It was immensely inspiring. I'd have to say that I owe my belief inself-determinismin large part to these kinds of examples. Even at the top, Nebraskans expected the highest standards of their players. While other teams were filled with trash-talk, endzone dances, and individual displays; Nebraska players were strictly business.<!--%kramer-post%-->

I do assume you mean the first Matrix and not the sequels! :D

I like this because it forces people to look at their own faults and insecurities, something that a lot of people hate to do. But in order to ever be the person that you truly want to be, you have to keep this attitude at the forefront. Nice post.

Being a Self Determinist means never giving up on acheiving your goal, no matter what the obstacles. Nice Article.

Hi Brian

Great post. You've mentioned that your dad told you that you could do anything you set your mind to and you took him for his word.... accolades to be given to your dad... he's a wise man indeed and to me, you've shown that Law Of Attraction works with your story on winning the $100 in the cereal contest...

Regretfully, this is not the case in my upbringing.

I've just been exposed to The Secret... watched the DVD 2 weeks ago and it really opened my eyes and mind, transforming the way I think.

In a recent report of an interview given by Bob Proctor, he also said that when we're in a highly evolved positive vibes, we're going to attract positive things... so now I'm setting my mind to practise having positive thoughts.

I've recently started Blogging and realize there's a lot to learn in the Blogosphere.. so apologies if my comments seem long-winded

What a great article. This goes well with Tim Ferriss's idea about the 3 resources that people work for, time, mobility and happiness. Thanks!

<!--%kramer-pre%-->and freeze. Who do you talk to and what do you say? Here’s some great communication tips that you can use. Wanna speed up your learning curve. Scott has got the routine down and he’s willing to share it. I have a question! What could you do if you set your mind to it? Thanks for tuning in. <!--%kramer-post%-->
