I was actually in Portland that day, and these accidents are for real. It was so weird. I flew in that day, and pretty much the whole city shut down because of the snow and ice. Apparently, they only get this type of weather about once every two years, so they don’t have the infrastructure to deal with it and just close down instead. When I checked into my hotel, the deskclerk asked if we ever had snow like that where I came from. I told him that if we shut down like they did that nothing would be open between November and March!
