In the spirit of promoting the work of those who are actively pursuing their passion, here is an interesting 4 1/2 minute documentary on the preservation of the High Line in New York City.
This project is a unique blend of historic urban restoration, shared public space, and rare environmental preservation in the city. As a fan of New York, I can’t wait until this project is finished in 2008. I think it will be a great addition.
The High Line would have been demolished if not for the passion of Joshua David and Robert Hammond who organized their neighbors in Lower Manhattan and lobbied the city. They held a contest open to everyone seeking to find creative designs for the new space.
This story is inspiring because it shows the power, creativity, and synergy of a few individuals with a purpose.
